Meet Steph Gagnon, our Founder and Principal. Steph's journey spans 25 years as a sustainability practitioner, witnessing firsthand the challenges and successes in the sustainability landscape. Her work has always centered around collaboration in support of sustainability, climate, governance, and strategy. Her unique approach, grounded in genuine listening, an outcome-oriented mindset, and a natural ability to integrate vision with implementation, sets the tone for our consultancy. 

 

Steph's career is marked by impactful projects, including leading award-winning community sustainability and multi-party development plans, spearheading the first municipal amalgamation in Alberta in over 15 years, and serving as the Lead of the Office of Sustainability for The City of Calgary where she created the first corporate sustainability reporting for the organization in 2014. 

 

She is uniquely positioned to guide clients through complex sustainability challenges, ensuring effective collaboration and strategic planning based on her training as a professional planner with a Master of Environmental Design, and with additional certifications in Consensus Decision-making, Mediation and Arbitration, Dynamic Facilitation, and Organizational and Relationship Systems Coaching.  

  

Steph's commitment extends beyond the consultancy realm. Currently serving as a board member for the International Association of Public Participation - Wildrose Chapter and The City of Calgary's Climate Advisory Committee, she actively shapes sustainable practices on a broader scale. 

As a recent graduate of International Relations and Global Development and Sustainability Studies from the University of Calgary, James brings a multidisciplinary approach to addressing complex issues. His work has been characterized by an emphasis on public policy, strategy, cultural sensitivity, and an effective approach to engaging with diverse communities.

 

James has made strides in sustainability, communications, research strategy, and policy analysis at both the community and national levels. His adeptness in communication and leadership enables him to effectively guide complex projects towards successful, inclusive results. James approaches all his work through a lens of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and additionally holds a certificate in Gender Based Analysis+ (GBA+).

 

An advocate for the ethical use of technology and the promotion of inclusive digital rights, James combines his expertise in sustainability, communications, and policy analysis with a strong interest in digital policy and transformation. Understanding the profound impact of digital technologies on society and governance adds a unique dimension to his approach, enabling him to contribute to sustainable and inclusive strategies that address the complexities of our increasingly digitalized world.
